Accommodation
Residential
Our residential accommodation offers you comfort and security away from home and gives you the opportunity to be part of an international student community. We can offer self-catering residential accommodation at the Plaza Residence year-round, subject to availability. Plaza Residence is a 15-minute-walk from the school.
Homestays
When you choose Homestay, you ‘ll learn so much more about English life and culture, as well as learning the language itself. You’ll find life to be informal, welcoming, and friendly, so you will have plenty of opportunities to practise your English. All homestays are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure high standards.
Leeds is quite a large city so in most cases you will need to use public transport to get around the city.
Taxis are easily available. They are safe and reliable and they use meters. An average journey would cost between £8 and £20 but of course, it depends on how far you travel.
You can use the bus service. You can either purchase a ticket for each journey you take. You can buy a ticket from the driver when you board the bus and an average cost of a ticket for one journey is £3.
You can also buy weekly bus passes (from the bus driver) which allow you unlimited use of all buses in the Leeds area for approximately £25 a week.
It is may be possible to rent bicycles. Please speak to us in the school and we can help you with this. Obviously bicycles may be purchased.
It is important to remember:
- We drive on the left-hand side of the road in the UK.
- Wear a helmet.
- You need lights on your bike as it is a legal requirement at night – white for the front and red for the back.
- A good lock is advisable.
Be respectful to others and do not cycle in pedestrian areas or on pavements, which is illegal unless they are designated cycle paths

Social Programmes
At CES, we want you to learn about the culture and people you are living with while improving your English at the same time. Our team of 'Yellow Shirts' organise a whole range of activities, events, and excursions for you during your time here.

- Full day tours on Saturday to places of interest such as York, Scarborough, Knaresborough, Skipton Castle and Whitby
- Relax with movie afternoons, quizzes and enjoy outdoor sports, like tennis, football, and more

- Try bowling, karaoke nights and international food parties
Please note:
Some social activities are free, such as movie nights / afternoons and trips to museums. Other activities may incur small expenses. For example, students should buy their own drinks during the pub nights. Most weekend excursions are not free and are not included in course fees (unless otherwise stipulated in group packages). and are pay-as-you-go.
