Parent and Child Programme
Learn English with your kids in Toronto
Our Toronto Parent and Child programme gives you and your family the opportunity to combine travel and study in one of Canada’s most exciting cities. You’ll stay in the same accommodation together and take lessons suited to your child’s age and level of English. Mornings are spent in class while in the afternoons, activities, excursions, and a busy teen activity programme will ensure you and your children learn English while getting a real flavour of local life and culture.

Right from the start, our experienced teachers will help you focus on the four crucial skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. From Monday to Friday in the classroom, our course is designed to make sure you and your child are always building your language skills, while gradually increasing vocabulary and knowledge of grammar at the same time.
What you need to know
Designed for beginner-level students, you will take 20 lessons per week from 9:00 am- 12:15 pm with each lesson lasting 45 minutes. You can expect students to be a minimum of 16 years old in these classes. We will place you in a class in accordance with your level.
Meanwhile, your child will also take 20 lessons each week on weekday mornings and must be at least 10 years of age. Parents and children will stay in the same homestay family, study in programmes suited to their ages and have the opportunity to participate in activities together.
Courses will have specific start dates and times during the year which they run. See timetables or listings below.

Your lessons are developed by your teachers and are designed specifically to meet your needs. Every week a new programme will be shared with you so that you will be aware of that week’s learning goals.
All classes at CES use a coursebook. These are available from reception and form an essential part of your lessons. Please note, each level uses a different book, so you will need to purchase subsequent textbooks as you progress.
A level test will be sent to you in advance of your arrival. This will assess your grammar, writing and speaking skills and is used by our academic teams to place you in the most appropriate class.
We offer a system of continuous assessment during your study and at the end of each week our academic team will discuss which students should move to a different level in order to maximise their language experience.
If you feel you are in the wrong level, speak to your class teacher or to the Director of Studies.
Homestay
We carefully choose people and families to host hundreds of students every year. You’ll get to share meals with your host in their home while practising your English in a fun and relaxed setting.
Residential
If you need self-catering student accommodation, we can offer you many options, dependent on availability, in Toronto.
Our Social and Cultural programme is a great way to improve your English, get to know your classmates, and truly experience and understand your new culture with your child. From museum visits to sports afternoons and everything in-between, you’ll both be kept busy. You can also enjoy a full-day tour on the Saturday midway through your course.
